Hartford City Ballet began as a professional performing
arts company in 2005. With the support of the City of Hartford and community partnerships programming was expanded
to include a pre-professional training program; School of Hartford City Ballet during 2006. HCB and SHCB continued to
offer outreach high quality multidiscilpinary presentations throughout Greater Hartford including dance, music and photography.
HCB and SHCB were recognized offically as a non-profit organization in 2008, subsequently received and
invested over $14,000 of grant awards into the creation of afterschool dance programs for K-12 Hartford students.
The Advancing Academic Achievement Scholarship program is a multidisciplinary September - May program providing an educational
base in Ballet and the performing arts to its students of any race, color, and national or ethnic origin, which
produces and presents cultural and artistic performances.
HCB and SHCB, awarded an additional $50,000 during
2009 and further expand afterschool programming and community outreach activities. During 2010, HCB and SHCB was
located on Park Street Hartford, and began to offer classes for adults.
Ready for 2011, HCB and
SHCB have moved into the Arts Center on 420 New Park Avenue and will be expanding progarmming and available classes.
